Affable celebrity chef Miguel Maestre will be searching out the freshest of produce at the on Saturday March 25.

Spanish chef Maestre is a co-host of Channel 10's The Living Room and is a regular on cooking shows and at cooking events around Australia.



He'll be in Albany from March 22 until March 27 and will be meeting and greeting visitors to the market from 10am to 11am on March 25 and on the lookout for local produce he can show off.

The is part of Taste Great Southern , Australia's biggest food festival, that runs from March 23 to April 9.

The markets operate each Saturday, March 25, April 1 and April 8, from 8am to noon in Collie Street, Albany.

The free event features real farmers who come into town and sell fresh produce they have grown or reared themselves.

On offer is a huge range of the very freshest seasonally available fruits, vegetables, farmed meat, dairy, cheese, fish, seafood and much more from the Great Southern Region.

Miguel Maestre will be a major attraction at the markets on April 25.



The talented Spaniard worked for many years in various kitchens around the world before making his home in Sydney.

Born in Murcia in the south of Spain, his love for food was pre-determined from a young age. Miguel's passion for food and life is infectious, and he has developed a talent for incorporating Spanish ingredients and cooking styles into his Australian menus.

Miguel at 27 was head chef of "Number One" the Godfather of Australian Cuisine Tony Bilson's Bistro, working alongside Australia's leading French chef Manu Feildel.

After meeting Ferran Adria at the number one restaurant in the world "El Bulli", he opened the biggest Spanish restaurant in Australia "El Toro Loco" in an outstanding waterfront location at Manly Beach.

At the age of 29 he was the chef at the most prestigious event in Australia 'Emirates Melbourne Cup' building a strong reputation in the cooking scene.

Miguel has been awarded by His Majesty The King of Spain the highest award a citizen can receive "The Order of Civil Merits" for his extraordinary service to the nation for the benefit of Spain in the Australian media.

It is Miguel's co-hosting role on TEN's two-time Logie winning show "The Living Room" that has catapulted him into the world of TV, working alongside Amanda Keller, Dr Chris Brown and Barry DeBois.

Other TV credits include "Boys Weekend" (airing in more than 100 countries worldwide, along with fellow international chefs Gary Mehigan, Adrian Richardson and Manu Feildel), "Miguel's Tropical Kitchens" where he charms his way through the tropics of North Queensland, cooking with exotic ingredients in breathtaking locations, "Miguels Feasts" airing on Network 10 and internationally, and "Weekend Feasts" airing on Network Ten.

Miguel is the author of two best selling Spanish books "Miguel's Tapas" and "Spanish Cooking".

He is the owner of Maestre Family Food selling an exciting range of Spanish products including four different types of Spanish cheeses, Jamon, Paella, Sangria, Spanish Rice and Potato Chips.
