The man with the mop (of hair that is), comedian Alan Davies is returning to his stand-up roots. After more than ten years away from the stand-up spotlight, and fifteen years since his last visit to our shores, Alan is bringing his Alan Davies - Life is Pain tour to Australia.
These days Britain's favourite pescetarian (I bet you have to look that up - I know I did) is probably better known to audiences for his regular spot as panellist and foil to host Stephen Fry on the panel show QI, or for his starring role in the quirky TV mystery series Jonathan Creek. In 2009 he released an autobiography, his first book, "My Favourite People and Me 1978 - 88" , in which he chronicles things and people he liked during his youth, including Starsky and Hutch and rather surprisingly Margaret Thatcher. In a BBC documentary he also recently helped to unravel the answer to the usually rhetorical question "How Long is Piece of String?".
But Davies' heart belongs to stand-up comedy, so this year has seen him retrace his comedy steps back to where it all began - on the road and in front of the microphone bringing his own unique take on the vagaries and vanities of life and the universe to appreciative fans. Davies will show us just how painful and amusing life really is. Australian tour dates and venues are below:
Oh man, I loved Alan Davies in How Long is a Piece of String and QI. His quips and persona can be absolutely hilarious. Actually, I think I’ll go youtube some of his standup right now – unless it’s dreadful, I’m definitely going to be at the Athenaeum in November.

Adore Alan Davies. Not able to go to any of his appearances unfortunately - not happy Jan. Funny old world as about a month ago I discovered for the first time what a pescetarian was - had never heard of it before.

This guy is one of my favourites of all time. Hopefully I can make it to one of the sessions to see him for the first time live. Thanks for the review and for bringing this truly talented, intelligent man to all the reader's attention.
