Akmal is a larrikin. He teases and swears and pokes fun at us and we love him for it!
His routine is not at all routine. He's all over the place and we are taken on fabulous and funny ride with him. We sat and just rolled with him for an hour and didn't stop laughing
If you're lucky (or unlucky) enough to be sitting in the first couple of rows, then you will most likely get his attention and you will become part of his show. He'll make fun of you and it'll be hilarious. I was sitting in Row B and I got off lightly compared to some! Actually, I think I was on a winner when he began to strip for me.
Akmal loves Australia and our famous public persons and places - they are great fodder for him and his stage show: Tony Abbott, Pauline Hanson, Shane Warne (he's a top bloke!) and Bunnings. There were so many more it was hard to keep up. Akmal told us how he made it onto the TV Show "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here" and just how fast he wanted to get out of there.
One of Australia's top stand-up comedians, Akmal is friendly, engaging and chatty. He connects with and easily builds a rapport with the audience and they in turn open up to him. He makes fun of us and we laugh and want more. Apart from some swearing, his show is not offensive or abrasive - it's an hour of superbly delivered razor sharp gags and it's hilarious.
Get yourself up from in front of the TV and go along and see him while you can. Akmal is comedy gold.
Akmal is playing at the Royalty Theatre in Angas Street in the city.
His show can be seen every Friday and Saturday night during the
Adelaide Fringe Festival . Tickets can be pre-purchased online or can be bought at the Box Office at the
Royalty Theatre .
