There's always been a slightly hedonistic side of Halloween that's reserved just for adults. Forget candy and door knocking, for those 18 plus, treats come in form of alcoholic elixirs, and Halloween represents the perfect excuse for a dash of debauchery and dishevelled revelry.

This Friday October 31 as the sun goes down and the kids are tucked in bed the 'adults' of Brisbane take to the party precincts around town, hitting up some of the many Halloween parties held at various venues. This happens all while dressing up or down – often in some ghoulishly revealing outfits.

If this sounds your thing, read on for three of the best adults only Halloween events around Brisbane for those wanting to embrace the fun in a slightly sinful style.

The Rockability Zombie Party @ The Greaser – October 31 from 5pm to Late



A self-proclaimed dive bar, The Greaser is home to the weird and wonderful, making it the perfect setting for all things a little unsavoury. To access the Zombie Party, attendees will descend below the streets at 25(A Brunswick Street in the Valley into to the subterranean dive bar, that has been specially transformed into an underworld graveyard beneath the street.

Perfect for the freaks and freaky, there will be free zombie face painting, as well as prizes for the best dressed. This is in addition to a special Halloween menu to be announced. If it's anything like the normal American style beef brisket, jalapeño cheeseburgers and other southern USA fare Greaser normally offer up, it's sure to be the ideal sort of food to settle booze filled stomachs.

Overboard @ Halloween Boat Party, Cruise and Haunted House



A ghoulishly good time is made all the more fun on the water, and departing from Mowbray Park on Saturday November 1, the drinks will flow freely on one of Brisbane's best party boats, complete with bar, and open air dance floor.

The tunes will be pumping as the Overboard Party Boat twists along the murderous river as night falls and the flying foxes take to the sky. From 6pm to 9pm the boat docks and you'll visit a supposedly real life haunted house which holds a turbulent history in Brisbane, standing on the site of an evil burial ground.

Those wanting to rock on will then be able to gain entry to the Church nightclub, a nightclub converted from a real life Church in The Valley's Warner Street. If partying in a former church sounds like your idea of sacrilegious fun, this electric chapel playing 'doof doof' house music is sure to go off.

Haunted Hotel on The Rooftop Bar @ The Limes Hotel, 142 Constance Street Fortitude Valley



Each year the Rooftop Bar at the Limes Hotel is converted into a haunted hotel. Now in it's sixth year, the glittering venue will be decked out in all the spooky trimmings. Think cobwebs strewn everywhere, cocktail cauldrons, and venomous shots to bring you back from the dead.

Perhaps more of a 'classy' venue than some of the other offerings this rooftop bar and cinema regularly hosts some of Brisbane's talked about events. There will be prizes for the best dressed and really, who doesn't like a rooftop bar?
