We're generally surrounded by American influences, from the movies and television shows we watch, to the clothes we wear, and even the way we talk, but how about American food? There are the obvious US fast food chains like
McDonald's,
Hungry Jack's (Burger King), and
KFC, but what other American restaurants does Adelaide have to offer? Let us know your favourite place to grab some good ol' American cooking in Adelaide.
TGI Friday's has recently opened up, and it serves everything you'd expect. Ribs. Hamburgers. Hot Dogs. Buffalo wings. Yep, they're all there. They have franchises all over the world, throughout North & South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Their food isn't cheap, but they do have some great drink specials, which always go well with this sort of comfort food. The restaurant at
Westfield Marion is covered with your typical rock and roll paraphernalia that seems to always be associated with the USA.
Down at Semaphore
New York Dreams Hotdogs and Wings focus on two things: hotdogs and chicken wings. It's pretty self explanatory really. They have a huge range of American Hotdogs with different fillings and sauces, as well as juicy chicken wings with blue cheese, ranch, or chipotle dipping sauces. On top of all that you'll also find fried, nachos, cheesy corn, and of course American Cupcakes. You can even grab some Reese's Pieces or Hershey's Kisses.
Next on the list is a place that serves Southern food up North. The
Louisiana Tavern in Elizabeth focuses on the Cajun/Creole cooking style. Alongside ribs, burgers, wings, and steaks you'll also find their Jumbo Gumbo, Mississippi Southern Fried Chicken, Cajun seafood, and plenty more. You can head along for a main meal, or just grab some bar snacks to enjoy with a drink.
There are some other places we love, and probably many more that you know about. How about
Burger Theory, Adelaide's very own US style food truck, serving delicious burgers with their 'truck sauce' all over Adelaide. Or, if cupcakes are your thing, the
American Candy Stand Cupcake Cafe in Norwood, they also have some pretty interesting milkshakes and a range of hotdogs on offer.
Let us know your favourite American eateries, and why they're the best. Does it come down to cheap prices? Or the juiciest ribs? What Adelaide restaurant is doing the USA proud?
