Adelaide United - Season 2015/16

Fresh from the big game in July versus Liverpool at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide United are ready and raring to go this season and are aiming for that prized finals spot and a chance of playing in the Asian Champions League.

The team finished third in last season's A-League under coach Josep Gombau, but this year they are looking to go one better. Guillermo Amor, previously from Barcelona, has been appointed as head coach and is looking to take the team to that elusive grand final in April.

The players have had a shortened off-season before they came back in July for the big fixtures against Manchester City and Liverpool and a series of exhibition games in the warmer climes of the Northern Territory. An extended run in the FFA Cup has seen the team looking sharp and starting to gel niclely, and super keen on settling a few scores against some of their eastern states rivals.

The club has been active in the transfer market during the off-season with new signings for this season including former Melbournian Mate Dugandzvic, striker Eli Babalj, midfielder George Mells, defender Iacopo La Rocca while goalkeeper John Hall has signed an extension to his contract.

They join existing stars and crowd favourites Bruce Djite, Eugene Galekovic, Dylan McGowan and Marcelo Carrusca in a line-up that is certain to give all teams a good shake this season while giving fans great value and entertainment for their dollar.

Adelaide United play 27 games this season with the following 13 being their home games :

  • Melbourne Victory (9 October 710pm)
  • Western Sydney Wanderers (16 October 710pm)
  • Melbourne City (5 November 730pm)
  • Newcastle Jets (22 November 430pm)
  • Perth Glory (6 December 430pm)
  • Sydney FC (11 December 710pm)
  • Wellington Phoenix (26 December 445pm)
  • Central Coast Mariners (16 January 445pm)
  • Newcastle Jets (31 January 430pm)
  • Sydney FC (5 February 710pm)
  • Brisbane Roar (27 February 445pm)
  • Melbourne City (11 March 710pm)
  • Central Coast Mariners (27 March 430pm)

  • All games are at Coopers Stadium on Manton Street, Hindmarsh with parking available in some side streets if you are early enough, or in the Entertainment Centre for a small fee. Tickets are available from the Adelaide United website or from the Manton Street gates before the game. For the bigger games against Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC these are likely to be sell-outs so it may pay to book these in advance.

The team also has 14 away games this season and the best place to follow their fortunes as they travel is their facebook page where photos and comments are provided before, during and after the game.

For further details about the team refer to the Adelaide United website or their facebook page .
