Addie's Specialty Tea Room

On those rare occasions I have time to "do lunch" with my children, when work, school or sport do not interfere, our top pick in our local area is always the gorgeous .
Located in the quiet suburb of Hammondville, in the south west of Sydney, Addie's is tucked away in a small section of shops, just across the road from St Anne's Church.
Inside the café you are transported back to your childhood fairy tale fantasies. The décor is fun and whimsical and will absolutely brighten up your day, with porcelain rabbits perched on shelves and tables, and quotes from Alice in Wonderland decorating the walls. Somehow this café makes you feel good even before you taste the beautiful food or the organic fair-trade coffee.
It is the kind of place you can keep coming back to, always friendly and welcoming with great service and fabulous food. My children and I have visited many times for milkshakes & coffee and a couple of times for lunch.
The café serves a range of light meals such as gourmet sandwiches, pikelets and pancakes, as well as a variety of home baked treats such as scones, cakes and slices.
For lunch, I find it hard to resist the Avocado Smash comprising toasted sourdough topped with chilli jam, avocado, fetta cheese, and caramelised balsamic served with fresh tomato and lemon. So tasty and fresh!
It was also at Addie's that I was first introduced to the unfortunately named, but exceptionally flavoursome, BRAT sandwich, made up of bacon, rocket, avocado and tomato on toasted sourdough. This is one BRAT I don't mind spending some quality time with.
While there is a children's menu, featuring toast, sandwiches, toasties and mini pancakes, my children prefer to order off the main menu. They have sampled the Bacon & Egg Roll which includes a generous serving of bacon and eggs on a long crusty roll.
The pancakes are also popular with my children, such as the three stack with maple syrup and ice cream.
Milkshakes are served in traditional milkshake cups and to add to the fun you can amuse yourself with mini table games such as noughts and crosses or the IQ tester while you wait.
There is also a range of giftware to browse and delightful retro greeting cards, stationery and gift wrap.
At you will find excellent food and welcoming and friendly staff. Price are affordable with milkshakes from $4.50 for a small, light meals from $7.50 for a Bacon & Egg Roll. The three stack of pancakes is $10.95, toasted sandwiches from $9.50, BRAT $10.50 and Avocado Smash $11.95.
