The
Brisbane City Council Active Parks program offers a work out for your body, your mind and even your spirit. This initiative provides a range of experiences for the residents of Brisbane, with some activities for 2011 including Zumba, tree climbing, stand up paddling, fishing and pilates in the park.
The Active Parks program takes place in parks and venues around Brisbane and includes a selection of sporting activities, arts and crafts classes, martial arts lessons and thrill seeking recreations. There's something different to do every week and a range of different schemes suited to certain demographics:
Real Adventure Women (RAW) provides an itinerary of exciting action sports like rock climbing, sky diving and kite surfing. This is, of course, available only to women,
Gonewalking organises walking groups all over Brisbane. With more than 80 groups available, visit the
website to find one near you,
Growing Older and Living Dangerously (GOLD) is for residents over the age of fifty. The choice of free and low cost activities ranges from croquet to kayaking to learning to tap dance,
And
Gold N Kids provides children under the age of seventeen with workshops and fun activities.
Most of these activities are provided at no cost. You will find a complete list of events, split into locations, on the Brisbane City Council website. Bookings are essential for some events and you will find the relevant contact details in the What's On calendar.
