If Australia is to Vegemite and Britain is to the Royal Highness, What is Iraq? Guns and turbulence like we see on TV?

I think the focus should start shifting away from all that and straight into their food. That was my enlightenment as I set my knife and fork down and looked outside the window after my 4th satisfying meal at last Sunday.

From "the Crescent" of Fairfield, brings you and your buddy buds to a world of Middle Eastern food cherished and treasured for centuries. You can taste the years of thought put into the making of the food.

Take this local favourite as an example; mixed plate of kebab - chicken and lamb Tekka (meaning 'bits and pieces') and minced lamb.

The meats are skewered on metal "swords" and cooked over hot charcoal - which is preferred cooking method by ancient middle eastern soldiers, except they used real swords. And I'm glad the tradition hasn't stopped, as I wouldn't have otherwise experienced that level of tenderness that is unmatched by any other. The mains are always complimented by their freshly baked 'Khubz' bread - always crusty with a soft inside - enough to warm the coldest of hearts.

Here are a few other dishes I've tried. They're noticeably home-style and surely worth a try.
