It's December again and you STILL have three people left on your list. Kids are easy to shop for because they tell you constantly what they want, they might have even drawn a Picasso of what they expect under the tree. The only challenge is hiding the present so there is at least an illusion of a surprise.

Adults, however, (unintentionally but it's totally happening) play a different game. You know they slowly unwrap what they hope is a gift that reflects your ability to pay attention or at least be thoughtful.

If you are reading this any other time of year, you are likely buying a gift for another occasion.

The issue stands that you have no idea what to buy your friend/partner/neighbour/boss or mother (to be clear – those should not all be the same person).

You find the task so difficult that you might have even tried to stop time or argue that gift giving should be boycotted because it is a commercially driven tradition with no moral or emotional merit.

To you I say 'whatever' (in my mind) but out loud - speaking solely of the act of gift giving regardless of the occasion or lack thereof - I say the sincere act of GIVING fills my heart with joy and is plain old fashioned nice.

So all that being said here is my gift to you, a list that doesn't involve socks or an ugly sweater!

GIFT GIVING FOR DUMMIES

1.Silk Pillow Case – Not much can be done about the drool but doesn't everyone deserve to wake up with tangle free hair? Throw in a few bath bombs or a GHD hair straightener and voilà – BEST FRIEND EVER!
2.Go Pro or Action Camera – for your adventurous friends. Which is everyone you know...what ever happened to couch potatoes and bookworms?

3.Silk or moulded eye mask – for the shift workers. Sleep is the most precious gift you could offer them and let's face it a box of sleeping pills is somewhat frowned upon.
4.Fitness tracker. How else do you know if you have actually achieved your 10,000 steps? Or gotten enough 'real' sleep? Or how many steps to your favourite doughnut shop?
5.Phone & Media accessories – because let's face it they run our world. We have no idea where we are, who we are or what we are doing without them so how about a Handcrafted Designer Lightning Cable and Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones? I know...again BEST FRIEND EVER!

6.Smartphone projector or movie projector - I'll supply the popcorn, you bring the wine!
7.Adult colouring book – for that friend on the verge of a nervous breakdown, wait I got one last year...?

8.Wireless Laser Projection Keyboard - I want one. I want one now. #EveryWritersDream Unless the writer is Colin, don't buy it for Colin because he 'needs to feel' the mechanical keystrokes when he is typing (Try to imagine my face right now) The rest of world though...#WillLoveIt !
9.A gift certificate to a floatation spa – Utter bliss! Unless they are claustrophobic or afraid of water... maybe check first.
10.The Wine Glass Bottle – because it is a W I N E G L A S S B O T T L E.
11.What do you buy your environmentally / ethically conscious friend? Or your sister who is allergic to the world?

You know, she knows, she has you stumped for a suitable super amazing gift and is 100% expecting a gift card or pair of socks that itch.

Well how about skin care products or make-up formulated without animal products or by-products, artificial flavours, artificial sweeteners, benzene, bisphenol-a, carbon black, formaldehyde-donating preservatives, hydroquinone, mineral oil, parabens, petrolatum, phthalates, sodium laureth sulfates (SLES), sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), synthetic dyes, talc, triclosan, triethanolamine (TEA) ?

The Arbonne range is sure to tick all her boxes and earn you huge props with the planet.

Another cool idea is a Water3 bottle with credit! Ditch plastic for good. Water3 kiosk are taking over QLD so they can refill and chill whenever they like. Speaking of ditching plastic, add a planet box (WHAT?) and watch little red heart emoticons appear all around you. (Please feel free to write to me and tell me how impressed they are with you - Go ECO Warriors!)

12. Lastly, don't have cash? Write a nice card with a 'Save the date'. You could organise a hike to a mountain they haven't climbed yet – a great view always brings joy OR even better volunteer you both to help in a soup kitchen – because nothing feels better than giving.
Happy Shopping!
