35mm A Musical Exhibition is an exploratory immersive production combining the emotional mediums of traditional photography and music. Discover why we take photos, what they capture, and the stories they leave behind.

Before the world of digital photography, people considered the ability to seize and preserve moments in time in a white box on flimsy cardboard to be an art form.

35mm A Musical Exhibition explores how photographs can speak a thousand words, or in this case a thousand lyrics, highlighting those essential moments before, during and after that perfect click!

You will take photos, be in photos, create new stories and find your focus. Can a picture really inspire a song or more than one song? What do you see?

In 35mm, each photo creates a unique song, moments frozen in time; a glimmer of a life unfolding, a glimpse of something happening. A stunning new multimedia musical which explores a ground-breaking new concept in musical theatre. Written by Ryan Scott Oliver and based on photographs by Murphy Made Photography (Matthew Murphy).

This intricately woven collection of stories told through song re-imagines what the modern musical can be. Set in the stunning Cathedral Room at the Adelaide Oval, 35mm allows you to view one of the most photographed buildings in Adelaide while enjoying photo-themed cocktails and a possible dark room.

Maybe you have agonised over a film that you adamantly deny was over exposed or possibly rejoiced over the surprisingly perfect film that you were sure was one for the trash. Maybe you have no idea of the struggle that made anyone with a camera a true artist but appreciate looking back at a time before everyone carried an instant camera in their pocket. Whatever your background, you will find something to entertain and evoke your emotions at 35mm A Musical Exhibition.

Performances are on as follows:

Thursday March 9th at 6pm
Friday March 10th at 5.30pm and 9.30pm
Saturday March 11th at 9pm

Tickets: $28
