Walking into 1806 cocktail bar is like taking a step back in time. Rekindling a past where to have drink was about quality, not quantity. This fantastically classy venue is a not to miss in the Melbourne CBD.
Situated at 169 Exhibition St, the vibe of this bar is relaxed and warming. Both the bar tenders and wait staff are extremely knowledgeable. Simply name what kind of drinks you have liked in the past, or what mood you're in, and they will select the perfect cocktail just for you. But be sure to have a look at the menu yourself! Each cocktail on the menu is paired with a fascinating blurb on its history; when it was created and the circumstances of its making. Some of my favourite cocktails include; the Shapphire Cilantro, the Japanese Slipper and the 42 Fruit Ninjas, but they have a drink for everyone's taste.
Be sure to get a seat next to the bar as you don't want to miss the bar tenders working their magic whilst making your desired drink. With martini shakers flying and spirits being set alight (to make the always popular 'Blue Blazer'), you wont be disappointed. Whilst all the drinks I've had here have been devilishly delicious, they are on the expensive side, with most cocktails averaging the price of $17. But trust me, both the ambiance and the liquor is well worth the money. I would also recommend making a booking, especially if you're headed there on a Friday or Saturday night, as the place can get packed.
I rate this by far the best place in the Melbourne CBD to get a sweet, strong and seductive cocktail. So head on down to 1806 and let the night take you away with a Tom Collins in hand.
