It's 1984 and a synth funk tune with a good beat blasts out of the radio. A cheeky young woman's voice says, "And you can dance". The reverb echoes meaningfully in your young, impressionable ears. "For inspiration," she continues, "C'mon! I'm waiting…". You feel like you'd better start dancing right now and not keep this fun chick waiting.

By the time of [i]Into the Groove[/i]'s release, [i]Like a Virgin[/i] had already launched Madonna into 'household name' territory. On Saturday 19th of August, her Madge-sty will be imploring us again, through the power of her music, to get into the groove and dance for inspiration at the [i] [/i].



It's amazing to think this marks the twelfth year Kristian Fletcher has produced the celebration that falls as close as possible to Madonna's birthday. Fans of the Queen of Pop will gather at the Wickham Hotel from 7pm to celebrate her birthday and mark 25 years since the release of the [i]Erotica[/i] album (alongside that unforgettable coffee table book with the provocative title [i]Sex[/i]).

Krisitan invites you to, "Strike a pose and get into the groove as upstairs at The Wickham Hotel is transformed into a dance club playing only the music of Madonna - 1980s, 1990s, Noughties and Now!"

Grab a drink from the bar, chill-out, meet other fans and check out a fan-compiled video retrospective of Madonna rare clips, performance footage and music videos.

The DJ will entertain everybody with a dance party playing nothing but the best music of Madonna - the greatest hits and fan favourites. There'll be prizes for the best dressed and best Vogue-r, licensed bar, roving photographers, themed artwork, cocktails and more.
